The Negative Impacts of Fast Food
INTRODUCTION
With globalization, most people have
begun to switch to eating fast food. Modern lifestyle with all things that are
very practical often makes us prefer to consume fast food. Fast food refers to
food that is served relatively quickly which is produced by the food processing
industry which contains a variety of substances, especially addictive
substances that are used to preserve and provide strong delicious flavors. Fast
food can indeed be a solution to save money and time, but if we consume it too
often in a long period of time, it will adversely affect our health. These are
some of the negative effects if we consume fast food in a sustainable manner.
BODY 1
Fast food can increase blood
pressure and blood sugar levels. In general, fast food contains a lot of sodium
and cholesterol. If you often eat fast food, it can increase blood pressure and
buildup of feces in the arteries. High saturated fat content in fast food will
also make the body work very extra absorb these substances.
BODY 2
Fast food causes digestive
disorders. In fast food which is mostly through the process of frying and
unhealthy basic ingredients can cause you to lack fiber in the body. Lack of
fiber will cause abnormalities in our digestive system such as difficult bowel
movements, constipation and etc. If you suddenly experience bowel movements or
the frequency is less than three times a week, this tends to be said to be
constipation. Meanwhile, if your bowel pattern suddenly more often can be
considered as diarrhea.
BODY 3
Fast food causes obesity and
diabetes. Obesity is a disorder that involves excessive body fat which
increases the risk of health problems. Obesity often occurs because more
calories come in than are burned through sports and normal daily activities.
Fast food contains a lot of calories, artificial sugar and salt which can cause
obesity. Other factors such as cooking oil and preservatives used also make it
difficult for the body to break it down. Indeed, when we eat what is eaten by
strangers can be said to be cool and not out of date, but we also have to like
the traditional food that we have. Seeing the fact that the current generation
of young Indonesians prefer a foreign culture that they find more attractive or
more unique and practical. Without us knowing foreign food has become a daily
menu in our lives. This results in the scarcity of various types of traditional
foods.
CONCLUSION
If this continues, it is inevitable
that much of the local culture will fade due to the absence of future
generations who will inherit it and our children and grandchildren will not
know about the types of traditional foods originating from their home regions.
So, actually Indonesian people can taste fast food but don't eat too much, to
avoid the above diseases. It's better if we eat traditional food made by ourselves.
